Consortium and stakeholder dialogues – deepening understanding and learning together

Kai Alhanen, the director of the Dialogue Academy, gives a presentation on how to use a dialogical approach and methods to improve interdisciplinary collaboration and stakeholder engagement. Drawing on both philosophical research and practical experience, the presentation focuses on the theoretical basis of dialogue and its use in academic work. Dialogue is conceptualised as a specific style of conversation that can be used to deepen understanding between researchers in interdisciplinary consortiums and also in stakeholder engagement. In addition, the impact of dialogue on trust and creativity is highlighted. 

Kai Alhanen (ThD) is the Director of the Dialogue Academy and a university researcher at the University of Helsinki. He is one of Finland's leading experts on dialogue and a respected trainer also in other parts of the world. Alhanen has previously published books on the philosophy of Michel Foucault and John Dewey, Dialogue in Democracy, and The Dialogue Book. Additionally, he has introduced innovative dialogue concepts like Timeout and National Dialogues, which have gained widespread recognition.
